13th Annual Family AIDS Walk

Living Positive Resource Centre and the Okanagan Aboriginal AIDS Society will like to invite you to join us on
Sunday, September 27th, 2009, for the 13th Annual Okanagan Family AIDS Walk sponsored by Interior Savings.
The Walk will be held at Waterfront Park in Kelowna. Registration will start at 10 AM,
the Walk will begin at 11 AM, and awards and prizes will be given at 12 noon.

It is your opportunity to be part of this huge event!

Join us for a 3km walk along Kelowna's waterfront, from Waterfront Park to City Park and back again.
There are great prizes to be won for Top Individual and Top Team Fundraisers, great entertainment and lots of fun!

Last year, the Honourable Steven Point, Lieutenant Governor of BC, his wife, Her Honour Mrs. Gwen Point, and AIDS Walk Chair Maxine DeHart, lead a host of local dignitaries and more than 300 walkers for the 12th Annual Okanagan Family AIDS Walk.

The Top Team Corporate Winners were once again Bernard Callebaut Chocolates with a total of $13,100.  Top Team Non-Corporate was Team Max with a total of $2,478.00.  Top Individual Fundraiser was Sandi Evans with a total of $775.00, while Top Fundraiser within a team saw six-time winner Tracy Hansen of Bernard Callebaut Chocolates defend his title with a total of $8,065.00.  Eldest Walker prize was won by 85 year old Vivian McLaughlin of Penticton with Youngest Walker honors going to 4 year old Cassidy Woolridge.   The Team Spirit Award went to UBC Okanagan School of Nursing.

This year, we ask you to join us once again as an individual walker, gather a group of family members, friends or co-workers to form a team, or make a monetary donation. Team members can support and encourage each other, as well as compete against other teams. There are several exciting prizes that have been donated from businesses within the community and will be awarded to the top fundraiser teams and individuals.

All of the funds raised by the Walk stay right here in our community to help support individuals and families whose lives have been affected by HIV and AIDS, and for education and prevention programs.  All funds raised in the North Okanagan supports the HIV and AIDS program of North Okanagan Youth and Family Services, as well as the ‘Grow the Dream’ campaign of North Okanagan Hospice Society.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE OKANAGAN FAMILY AIDS WALK
ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH, 2009!
